NDLEA intercepts counterfeit $4.7 million cash

Operatives of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, have foiled an attempt by a syndicate in Abuja to push into circulation fake four point seven million dollars or about two point seven billion naira.

The operatives had in the early hours of Friday, intercepted a consignment sent from Lagos to Abuja at Abaji area of the Federal Capital Territory.

Its Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi said a controlled delivery of the parceled counterfeit dollars led to the arrest of a principal suspect, Abdulmumini Maikasuwa.

Babafemi also said the seizure followed intelligence received by the FCT Command of the agency detailing the movement of the cash.

He quoted the Chairman, retired Brigadier-General Buba Marwa as directing that both the cash and the suspect be transferred to EFCC for further investigation.
