APC Must Remain Strong, United to Remain In Power- President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain united and strong and also support the incoming leadership of the party.

Speaking at the Eagle Square, Abuja, venue of the National Convention of the party, the President said the Convention is coming at a crucial time when the party prepares for another round of a general election.

Buhari enjoined the new NWC members to promote internal democracy and equal opportunities and ensure that party primaries are not influenced by highest bidders going into the 2023 elections.

In his address Vice President Yemi Osinbajo lauded the founding members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for forging a political party to dislodge the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Osinbajo, who said the party was a product of ideas from opposition members, congratulated everyone that was part of its formation.

In his remarks, President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan lauded President Buhari for his role in ensuring Executive/Legislature harmony and the even development of all geo-political zones in the country.

He added that the President’s commitment to the implementation and completion of projects would particularly see to the eventual commissioning of the second Niger Bridge in the South-East part of the country later this year.

The National Chairman, APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee Mai Buni, while highlighting the achievements of the Caretaker Extraordinarily Convention Planning Committee, ratified all the activities of the committee till date.

Meanwhile, Senator Abdullahi Adamu has emerged as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), about a year and nine months after the Adams Oshiomhole led National Working Committee (NWC) was dissolved.

He was returned unopposed on Saturday at the party’s national convention held at the Eagle Square in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa State announced Adamu as the winner of the contest after he was endorsed by party members and leaders at the convention via a voice vote.

He had gone into the election as the consensus candidate following the withdrawal of his co-contenders from the contest.

Also elected through consensus was Emma Enukwu from Enugu State as the Deputy National Chairman, South.The consensus candidates were confirmed through voice vote at the national convention of the party.
