FG Approves Compulsory Access Fee into Federal Airports Nationwide

The Federal Government approves introduction of toll-gate payment for access into all federal airports across the country.

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Festus Keyamo disclosed this while briefing State House Correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Keyamo said that it was now mandatory for every one who visits the nation’s airports to pay the access fee, including VIPs and foreigners.

He also disclosed that the President and the Vice President have agreed to be included in the payment of access fee at the airports.

Keyamo noted that the era of Very Important Personalities(VIPs)approaching the airport authority for complimentary e-tags to skip payments for airport services was over, as it has been making the sector lose revenue.

Speaking on the issue of efficiency on the part of airline owners, Keyamo assured government will ensure the auditing of all airlines to ensure and ban inefficient airlines from operations.

The Aviation Minister also disclosed that the Council approved for the Ministry, the purchase and installation of Recovery Systems equipment to the tune of 4.2Billion naira.
