The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has activated its emergency centre as the death toll in the recent outbreak of cholera reached fifty-three nationwide.
In a statement on its X account, the agency said it took the step following a dynamic risk assessment of the oubtreak in a bid to curtail the risk of transmission of the disease.
A total of one thousand, five hundred and twenty-eight suspected cases and fifty-three deaths have been recorded across thirty-one states.
