United States Agency for International Development, USAID, says the Horn of Africa is facing its worst drought in over forty years, with eighteen million people in Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya going hungry.
The agency recently met with residents of a village in Turkana, northwest Kenya to find ways to improve their support.
After hearing challenges and views of the locals, USAID’s administrator, Samantha Power promised to finance the affected people and area with over one billion dollars.
The official said some of the funding would go to partners building boreholes or repairing boreholes, so there can be some source of water, to provide food.
