The Lagos State government and the Nigerian Optometric Association, Lagos Chapter, have strengthened partnership to reduce avoidable blindness by making quality and affordable eye care accessible to the public.
Chairperson of the Nigerian Optometric Association, Gloria Okoekhian, stated this at the ”2024 World Optometry Day March for Sight”, to commemorate the week themed: Advancing Optometry’s Commitment To Global Eye Care”, held at Ikeja.
She informed that optometrists in the state, in collaboration with the State Ministry of Health and its agencies, had over the years carried out the mandate of examining, diagnosing, and treating diseases and disorders that affect the eyes and vision of residents.
Okoekhian, however, commended the State Government for being proactive and supportive, harping on the need for residents to pay proper attention to their eyes, as vision was paramount to productivity.
