Ahead of Sadiq Umar’s surgery on Thursday (today), Nigerians have taken to social media to wish the Super Eagles and Real Sociedad forward a speedy recovery, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Nigeria international suffered a right knee sprain during the first half of Sociedad’s LaLiga clash against Getafe on Sunday and tests on Monday confirmed everyone’s worst fears, after he was diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in the right leg, an injury that could see him miss the remainder of the 2022/23 season.

Sociedad revealed on Tuesday that Sadiq would undergo an operation today, with Nigeria wishing for Sadiq’s fast return on Twitter.

Matthew Akhigbe wrote, “Wish you all the best Sadiq. Come back stronger and better.”

Another Nigerian Abiodun Yusuf commented, “Really devastated about the news of ur injury. Bro, I wish you quick recovery.”

“Wishing perfect and quick recovery, Sadiq,” Big Casey wrote, adding a ‘blue heart’ emoji.

Another user with the username, @rufai_rufai also referenced Sadiq’s place in the Super Eagles, “Get well soon bro both your club and national team will miss your goals.”
