The United Nations General Assembly has voted to reject Russia’s call for the one hundred and ninety three member body, to hold a secret ballot on whether to condemn Moscow’s move to annex four partially occupied regions in Ukraine.

The General Assembly decided with one hundred and seven votes in favor of public vote on a draft resolution that condemns Russia’s referenda and the attempted annexation.

Only thirteen countries opposed holding a public vote on the draft resolution, another thirty nine countries abstained and the remaining countries – including Russia and China – did not vote.

President of the United NationsGeneral Assembly, Csaba Korosi said the war was unneccesary.

Diplomats said the vote on the resolution would likely be on Wednesday or Thursday.
