The death toll from a gas tanker explosion in Johannesburg South Africa on Christmas Eve has increased to thirty-four from an earlier estimate of twenty-seven.
According to the provincial health department, the blast tore the roof off the emergency department at the Tambo Memorial hospital in the city’s Boksburg suburb Many bystanders were also injured, while it destroyed houses and several cars.
The agency, said victims included eleven health workers and twenty-three from the public.
