The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas has urged opponents of President Bola Tinubu at the 2023 presidential election to be comforted and accept defeat and while calling on all to work with the government for the progress of Nigeria.
The speaker who was speaking with state house correspondents in Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, congratulated President Tinubu on his victory at the Supreme Court on Monday.
“They should take heart there is always one victor at a time, this is Asiwaju’s time, they should all take heart, come and join hands with him. So that we move Nigeria to a greater level”, he said.
Abbas stated that the victory was not only for President Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress but also for all Nigerians.
“After this pronouncement, we have no excuse, but to go back to business as usual, to go back and reset our agenda and see what we can be able to do for the people of Nigeria for the next three and a half or four years”
The party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje said President Tinubu’s victory is a revalidation of the mandate which the Nigerian people gave him and Nigeria’s electoral and judicial process.
The Supreme Court had on Thursday dismissed the appeals filed by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party and the Labour Party, as well as their candidates, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, respectively
