Nigeria has kickstarted the process of sustaining the ownership and control of the HIV and AIDS national response when foreign funding comes to an end.
The Director General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS, NACA, Gambo Aliyu stated this at a stakeholders meeting, in Abuja.
Aliyu said the move became imperative, as Nigeria aimed to avoid being unprepared as the deadline to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030 approaches, and the funding from development partners diminished.
He urged stakeholders in the HIV and AIDS national response to prepare themselves, and work towards the successful implementation of the country’s sustainability agenda, as it approached the 2030 target for epidemic control.
