The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has urged Federal Government to either fund universities or shut them.
The National President of ASUU, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, who said this in an interview, insisted that Government should implement the agreement it signed with the union in 2009.
Osodeke, was reacting to the Minister of Labour, Employment and Productivity, Doctor Chris Ngige’s statemtent, during a Television interview, that the Federal Government did not have the funds to meet its obligations in the agreement signed with ASUU.
Some of the union’s demands, yet to be met, include, funding for revitalisation of Public Universities, earned academic allowances, University Transparency, Accountability Solution and promotion arrears.
