Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has appealed to politicians and public office holders not to gag the media.
The governor who made the appeal at a workshop organised by the Nigerian Guild of Editors, cited the importance of press freedom.
While speaking on the theme of the workshop: “Journalist and Digitalisation: the imperative of Good Corporate Governance”, Governor Sanwo-Olu advocated good corporate governance and self-regulation of the digital space to completely eradicate fake news.
The governor assured that his administration will continue to promote Press Freedom and good corporate governance as well as enabling environment for journalists in the state.
He urged media practitioners to always regulate their activities in the digital space.
