Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, says the number of people killed by the devastating earthquakes in Turkey’s southeast has reached forty-eight thousand.
Erdogan in a televised address to the nation informed that over one hundred and fifteen thousand people were injured in the disaster.
Two earthquakes of magnitude seven point seven and seven point six had on sixth February hit the southeastern regions of Turkey with an interval of nine hours.
Thousands of underground shocks that followed were felt in eleven Turkish provinces, as well as in the neighboring countries, of which Syria was the most affected.
