Peruvian Prime Minister, Alberto Otarola has resigned after audio footage of him discussing helping his girlfriend get government contracts was exposed.
Otarola tendered his resignation following a television programme Panorama’s broadcast of the recordings over the weekend.
Announcing his resignation, the Prime Minister told newsmen that he had been framed by political opponents, claiming his rivals had manipulated and edited the recordings, which he said were made before he entered office in 2022.
Otarola also stated on his page X, that he was resigning to give peace of mind to the president and for him to recompose his cabinet.
