The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested a 13 years notorious drug kingpin, Reginald Peter Chidiebere, following the seizure of large consignments of cocaine and heroin linked at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.
A statement by its Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, said Chidiebere was first arrested in 2013 over the importation of cocaine into Nigeria and was arraigned before Ayokunle Faji of the Federal High Court, Lagos.
He later jumped bail after being granted bail in 2013 and had remained at large since then.
According to the statement, the suspect resurfaced in February 2024 when his name featured prominently among those behind the shipment of 49.70 kilograms of heroin imported from South Africa.
The consignment was intercepted by NDLEA operatives at the airport’s import shed.
Reacting to Chidiebere’s arrest, the NDLEA Chairman, Buba Marwa, said the agency remained committed to dismantling drug trafficking networks and bringing offenders to justice.
