U.S. President Donald Trump says he is not interested in negotiating with Iran, raising the possibility that the war could end only when Tehran no longer has a functioning military and its leadership is completely removed.
Trump defended the U.S. military operation in the Middle East, describing it as the largest since the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
He said the action was necessary because Iran posed an imminent threat to the United States, although no evidence was provided publicly to support the claim.
The president also argued that Iran was dangerously close to developing a nuclear weapon, a concern that had long fueled tensions between Tehran and Washington.
