Sudan’s warring generals have agreed “in principle” to a week’s ceasefire to start from Thursday.

The violence between the army and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, RSF, is in its third week with each side accusing the other of breaching previous truces.

South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir has stressed the importance of having a longer ceasefire to allow each side to name representatives for peace talks.
